myElephant Thai Restaurant

My sister and her boyfriend took us to this Thai restaurant and according to tripadvisor, this restaurant is rank in the top10 list of restaurant in PJ. My sister told us that this place is always packed with people. She can always see people queueing up outside of the restaurant each time she passes by. We ordered some of their signature dishes. The food there quite nice and served with free flow of brown rice.

Green Aroma RM8 - refreshing and nice

Watermelon Cooler RM6.50

Snow Fish RM45 - it's good with the special chilli sauce included

Paku vegerable RM15

Deep Fried Prawn with Green Curry RM21 - I like this a lot. It's quite flavorful, probably with the coconut milk :)

Brown Rice - It's free flow but charge a RM3 per person
T
Gai Tod Gratiam Prik RM15 - deep fried boneless chicken

Tom Som Fish RM20 - tom yam soup with fish meat - quite nice and the level of spicyness was just right

Hokkaido Sushi @ One Utama

This japanese restaurant is quite new in One Utama, PJ. It opens since Oct this year. This restaurant is situated at lower ground floor Promenade. We settled in this restaurant one the first day we reached PJ last week. We found the price quite reasonable and the serving a bit bigger than average. The food taste quite good (not sure hunger factored our taste as well as we were starving at that moment). They owns another restaurant too which is called Hokkaido Ichiba, at next door.

Lobster Roll  RM12.80 - This was good but it was from the promotional menu. It comes with avocado slices

Unatama Don (S) RM16.80 - This is small size. They have large size as well but this S size is good enough for me :-).

Cream plate RM1.80

RM6.80 This is nice which good chuck of cooked salmon top the sushi roll

Restaurant Nyonya Batik @ New World Park, Penang

I like nyonya food since young, probably my grandma often cook dishes like loh bak, jiu hu char, acar, periuk ikan, etc. I really miss her cooking. Anyway, we decided to try out this restaurant at New World Park. The price was reasonable like most of the nyonya restaurant in town. This restaurant has a nice authentic ambience with batik cloths for all the tables, old-style chinese lanterns, pottery, etc. As for the food, overall i found it reasonably good, just a little on the salty side.

Batik cloth on each dining table; I order a hot nutmeg drink and it's quite nice as well, not at all diluted like others that I've tried

Interior with chinese nyonya decor

jiu hu char - aromatic but a bit salty. If it is slightly softer and less salty, then i think it would be perfect

Loh Bak (pork) - it's very flavorful and meaty with the correct amount of 5 spice powder--quite satisfying :-)

stir-fry potato leaves with garlic

Ayam Pongteh - braised chicken with shallots and herbs - reasonably good :)

Restoran Kim Seng @ Kampung Benggali

Initially plan to go to Restoran May Fong @ Kampung Benggali for breakfast but found that they didn't open for breakfast hence just settle at this Restoran Kim Seng which is a few door away, which also served koay teow noodles. There was quite some business that morning, not sure if it was the only restaurant opened for business that morning along the Kampung benggali road. Price wise was reasonable hawker fare while the koay teow noodles was abit lack compare to Restoran May Foong. It was a bit too soft but I found it's fish ball still reasonable good.

Bean sprouts with Roasted pork - the meat a bit cold and the pork skin not crispy

Restoran Kim Swee @ Pusing

This is the 2nd time visits to this restaurant. The 1st time was 4 months ago and that time during confinement period, I can't take the soup noodles as they used pig's big bone for their soup based. Previously I was only allowed to take to fried noodles. This restaurant served good seafood noodles. Their soup based is sweet and refreshing even though it's a bit on the creamy side. It smell good from the sesame oil. They have also varieties from rice options. They opens from morning till afternoon.

Seafood Soup Noodles with Handmade Fish Balls ~RM6.50 (If w/o the fish balls, it's RM5+)

Handmade fish balls ( I prefer the one from Restoran Hoong Wan Chemor - more springy)

Fresh Cucumer+Celery juice (RM3) - refreshing!

Sushi Kitchen @ Sg Ara

When Shilpee came over to Penang from India, my colleagues and I took her to this vegetarian/meatless japanese restaurant. This restaurant came to my mind as previously my parents told me about it as they have visited here a couple of times. This restaurant has nice ambience with its antiques and japanese decor. The table settings come in the Tatami sytle and normal tables settings. It's a good place for chit-chat and small family gathering. Food prices are reasonable and tastes was ok but not to say very delicious, but it's suppose to be healthy as they practise the 9 NOs (No MSG, Artificial Coloring, Perservatives, White Salt, White Sugar, Meat, Egg, Garlic/Onion and No Microwave). But nevertheless one can give it a try to opt for a different in vegetarian meal :-).

Fatty Fatty Hainam Chicken

Just now during lunch time, my hubby and I went for some eyes-checkup as recently i felt that i see things a bit blur and eyes easily get tired. Good news is my left eyesight's power has decreased! but need to replace with new spectacles..After that, we just decided to have simple lunch at the corner coffee shop besides the optical shop and ended up having chicken rice at Restoran Khek Leng of Terengganu Road. I've been eating this chicken rice for quite some years but didn't blog it until now. It actually tasted quite good but the chai boey (salted vege chicken soup) a bit lack, a bit on the sweet side. Our lunch came to a total of RM10 with two oil rice. If you are around the area during lunch time, you can try it out!

3 combinations of meat (chicken, char siew & chinese sausages)

The chai boey a bit sweet and not much salted vege provided

Besides that, this coffee shop open till late night where you can also find good herbal duck noodle soup which starts business around 4pm. I'll blog about it next time when i try it again!

Agua Mediterranean Restaurant Penang

On celebrating Mother's Day [first Mother's Day :) ], we went to Straits Quay and have our lunch at Agua. They serve mediterranen cuisine.  I'd the mother's day set which cost at RM68.80 which comes with a starter, main course, dessert and house wine, while my hubby had ala-carte. Overall it's worth the visit. The food was simply scrumptious except the house wine :-) The hospitality was good too with friendly customer service from the waiters. Thanks to my hubby for treating me! Give a try if one is in Penang!
Celebrating 1st Mother's Day with hubby and baby

Tomato Soup with Crouton - good and we feel that this soup can be perfect as the gravy for pasta :-)

House wine (red) - not much to brat ....not to my liking...probably it's merlot

Lemon herb fish fillet ~RM34.90 - This is good! The lemon and herb blended perfectly. The fish meat taste fresh

Medallions Pork (as this the main course of the set but if ala-carte is RM36.90) - This was splendid. The meat was tender and gravy was good. The side dishes that came with it were cube potates wedges and shallots....they were nice too....normally i don't really like potatoes but this time I can finish all the potatoes here... :D

Lemon pie with vanila ice-cream - nice too!
