Restoran Kim Swee @ Pusing

This is the 2nd time visits to this restaurant. The 1st time was 4 months ago and that time during confinement period, I can't take the soup noodles as they used pig's big bone for their soup based. Previously I was only allowed to take to fried noodles. This restaurant served good seafood noodles. Their soup based is sweet and refreshing even though it's a bit on the creamy side. It smell good from the sesame oil. They have also varieties from rice options. They opens from morning till afternoon.

Seafood Soup Noodles with Handmade Fish Balls ~RM6.50 (If w/o the fish balls, it's RM5+)

Handmade fish balls ( I prefer the one from Restoran Hoong Wan Chemor - more springy)

Fresh Cucumer+Celery juice (RM3) - refreshing!

Restoran Ah Pek Lee Kou Hock @ Sitiawan (near Kg Koh)

On the way back after Pei Yee (my hubby's youngest sister)'s wedding ceremony at Swiss Garden Damai Laut, the whole family stopped by Sitiawan to have seafood lunch. This restaurant was recommended by Pei Yee but she and her hubby was unable to join as they need to fetch the photographer back to Ipoh first. The restaurant is divided into two sections: air-conded and non-airconded. Service was a bit slow probably that's how the restaurant name came about...hehe... It took about 1hr before we get our food even though there were a couple of tables before us only. Food taste was good. The seafood are fresh. Below are some of their specialties besides mudskippers (which we didn't manage to order)

The signature chili sauce from Kg Koh used in the restaurant

Steamed Fresh Squid ('Pak Cheok' style) - fresh and only fresh squid can be steamed this way

Curry Grouper Fish - not to boost about ...just average as the coconut milk is more than the chili...lack of oomph.... :)

Deep-fried Oyster (Or Chen) with egg (without the tapioca flour type) - can taste many small  baby oysters in it

Stir-fry small kai lan - many of us were guessing what vege is this as it doesn't look like kai lan. I feel that it looks more like spinach with more crunchy bite. It's fresh and nice.

Steamed prawn with egg - fresh and good
Steamed Grouper - Very fresh and the fish meat very smooth and soft :)

Dragon One @ De Garden Ipoh

During Chinese New Year holiday when back to my hubby's hometown (Ipoh), we went to new happening place called De Garden. There you can find varieties of food/cuisines (paparich, wong kok, daorae, tutti frutti, Oh Sushi, etc) and fashion boutiques. After going through the whole complex, we finally settled into Dragon One Shanghainese restaurant.  The price is reasonable for a restaurant and overall the food taste good. There is only 10% Service Charge and no Gov Tax. You can give a try!

Avocado with Kataiti RM5.80 - Crispy and Sweet

Steamed Shanghainese Meat Dumpling With Superior Soup RM6 - nice but still can't beat Dragon-I's.

Steamed Prawn Dumpling With Spinach RM4.80

Deep-fried prawn roll RM4.80 - Crispy and good

Baked Prawn Dumpling with Cheese RM5.80

Minced Pork and Spicy Sauce La Mian RM9.80 - It not spicy for me, it's tasted like szechuan hot and sour soup. Still quite appetizing.

Fried Rice with Salted Egg Yolk RM9.80 - Coated goldenly with nice taste of salted egg yolk

Restoran Ming Feong @ Pusing Perak

During New Year weekend, we went back to my hubby's hometown Pusing in Perak. We decided to have the Sunday lunch at this old restaurant in the town called Ming Fong. If not mistaken, this restaurant has been established more than 30 years. I think this is only my 2nd visit to this restaurant since 10 years ago. I remembered during my 1st visit, the food here was very nice and I like it. They offer chinese cuisine like chu-char (stir-fry). Most of the customers are locals and some are from other states. If you are on the way to Lumut/Pangkor Island, one can always stop by this old town which veil a number of infamous food here.

Interior of the restaurant - with antique fans, wooden chairs and marble tables. The wall tiles and red cement floor were previously installed by my father-in-law. He used to work as a renovator but now he runs an orchard.

Their hand-made egg noodle in soup served with prawns RM16 - somehow this is one of their specialties but i found it to taste average as noodle that day was not really springy and the soup has stronger taste of the noodles instead of the sweetness from the chinese cabbage or prawns

Stir-fry vegetable

Here come their main specialty - claypot doggy duck RM24 for half duck. This dish is very nice. It is called 'doggy' because last time in Pusing claypot dog meat dish was quite popular and probably this dish is somewhat replica of the dog meat dish with the way it is cook but nowadays there is no more dog meat dish.

Good Food @ Outskirts of Ipoh, Perak

Breathtaking lake scenery taken at Pusing

Curry pork-skin chu cheong fun @ pusing ~good~

Mushroom gravy chu cheong fun ~good~

The "short-tempered" chu cheong fun uncle

Tried it and you will love it! It's at the Pusing town, opposite the only police station in town. Pusing is located in Batu Gajah district of Perak. It's about 30 minutes aways from Ipoh town. This is also my hubby's hometown. I bet a lot of people have not hear about this Pusing town. I'm one of them too before I know my hubby. It is a small town with mostly Chinese and Indian population here. Most of the people here do farming and small business. It's consider a Hakka village as well but my in-laws are Cantonese living here since childhood. This chu cheong fan stalls has opened since many many years ago, > 20 yrs. There are only two choices of chu cheong fan here. One is with mushroom gravy and the other one is with curry gravy. I like both but most people prefer the curry gravy one. My hubby can eat up to 3 plates on just chu cheong fan..hehe.. Besides chu cheong fan, Pusing is also famous for its Hakka & nyonya kuih, Chiet kuen (cut meat rolls), dao ma chiet (like pan mee but using knife to cut the noodles), curry wildbor meat with noodles, and etc.

The following food is found at Chemor town (@Restoran Hoong Wan) - Great Seafood noodles! with it's famous fish meaty 'slices'
